Julie Burchill and Chavs

I have just sat through 1 hour of the most inane television watching Julie Burchill trying to convince us of her working class roots and that she felt pain for every slur on chavs - because she is supposed to be one. Her simplistic reasoning for firstly the rise of the Chav was Thatcher and that Chavs were hated because Toffs want to be like them. I am glad to say that for once she cannot be accused of wasting tax payers money as it was on Sky TV. The programme was mind boggingly dreadful and devoid of any real historical context. Her imagery was amazing - it seemed if you're not a Chav then you must have been at every pro-hunting demonstration or are a member of the royal family. The whole thing was staggeringly bad.
